What pushed me over is my absolute distaste for the free technology. But they can likely get a serviceable edge on the 154CM of the Charge alox.Īs for the pliers, the strength addition is likely marginal.įor all of these reasons, I personally believe that the Arc isn’t that much nicer than a Charge TTi. Third, and this is important, I’m not sure most of the people in the multitool hobby, excluding the knife hobby overlap, are equipped to deal with Magnacut on a sharpening level, probably not even S30V, honestly. ![]() You’ll get more mileage out of the Magnacut ultimately, but I tend to carry something more substantial for a primary blade. Second, the ergos on any multitool do not lend themselves to extended use cutting. Without a proper heat treat, which is happening to many makers using Magnacut, a lot of the benefits start to fade. They often have horrid geometry and middling heat treat. Yes, Magnacut is significantly better than S30V, or probably any other stainless steel for that matter, but my issue has a couple of facets: First, LM seems allergic to selling knives with good factory edges. I find the edge of the Arc to be less comfortable than my Charge. Thickness is irrelevant to me as are most of the tools being on the outside, since I think that arrangement ends up being rather cloddish. ![]() I hate the feel of it and I dislike the prospect of magnetic closure, especially in a multitool. First, I hate the free technology I can’t stand it. I didn’t say the Arc wasn’t the better tool I stated it wasn’t that much nicer. The charge is still the 2nd nicest multitool out there. Ap12:14 We all seem to have the same problem with Lowes, an exchange should be just that, an exchange. Just the blade steel and plier head alone makes it better and once you add in everything else it’s really not a fair comparison. If the arcs handles were made of titanium the charge would have no reason to exist but even without the titanium the arc is the superior tool. It is about as comfortable to use as regular pliers. It will withstand the same abuse as a charge. The arc looses no strength by being one hand operable. That’s objectively better than having to open a handle to deploy tools. The arc is slimmer than the charge with all tools being accessible from the outside with one hand. C3 The C3 Cordless System powers over 25 Craftsman tools with one DieHard battery to give you power, durability and value. ![]() The blade steel of the arc is leagues above the charge. The arc/free plier head is the strongest head LM has ever produced. So on the way home I stopped in Tilton NH at a Lowe’s and they had no problem exchanging the broken tools that I need except for one ratchet that I will have to call for. The arc has a stronger plier head than the TTI. Be this is unacceptable nobody saves slips it says Craftsman on the tool that is warranty. Party opinion but there is some facts to it.
